A wild horse that rears its hooves against us all is rage; It thunders into our lives uninvited, whether we be sinner or sage. No man can tame, nor even ride, this stalwart stallion very long; Its snort is too invasive, its hooves too sharp, its stride far too strong. It can throw and shatter our lives on the ground; It can cause us to wound friends and family all around. No whip nor chair can bring this behemoth to bay; Submitting to God and resisting its “owner” is the only way. When the raging horse rears its hooves to an angry red sky of morning, When ominous storm clouds billow overhead without warning, When sharp tongues lash in our face, and threaten our day, Don’t draw from the well of wrath; there is a better way. God never expects us to fight our battles alone; That is why He sent His Son to save us, and claim us for His own. We must never allow pride and self-sufficiency to strip us blind and bare; Let us submit ourselves to God, and seek the covert of His wing’s tender care.
