Many temptations my vanity affords me each day; The lust of the eyes and the pride of life can cause my feet to stray. But only the Holy Spirit supplies my real need; I am satisfied with His store; God has my provision – I want all of that, and nothing more. Beautiful homes and new cars I see wherever I drive, Many people living in prosperity and never having to strive. King David saw all the wicked kings about him, enjoying wealth galore; God showed Him earthly riches is all they would receive – all of that, and nothing more. God blessed King Solomon with wealth untold and wisdom above all others. He had all life could offer: many servants, wives, and brothers, Lands and fame; God withheld nothing his heart could adore; Still his soul was vexed. Lord, give me only my pleasant food – all of that, and nothing more. Satan dangles a beautiful golden carrot before my face; He assures me, if I can only reach it, all my sorrows will be erased. Jesus said, “'If you suffer with Me, you will also reign with Me,' My heart they tore.” I say, “Yes, Lord, I will bear my cross – I want all of that, and nothing more.”
