Three Sides of Me

Our God is a Holy God: one God, made up of three.
      I was fashioned in God’s own image; there are also three sides of me.
All three facets of God are Holy and Sinless; Adam fell from his sinless state.
      Because of him, I am no longer capable of sinless love; I now can hate.

Nevertheless, every part of my being points to the Holy One of Three;
      Fingers and toes have three joints; shoulder, elbow, and wrist – all shout creation to me.
There are also three sides to my soul: my inner child, redeemed Jacob, and fallen Adam’s side.
      My child screams me, me, me; Jacob loves God; Adam lusts to envy; they complete the tribe.

Of the three facets of my being, only redeemed Jacob seeks after God;
      My inner child and fallen Adam count Jacob as foolish, and more than a little odd.
I must daily choose which one of the three I purpose to sustain and cultivate in me;
      I need God’s help to crucify the other two; I want Jacob for all to see.

Unless fallen man is born again, one side of his creation will always be missing till he dies;
      Fallen man is born selfish and carnal; always searching for his “missing part,” he knows not why.
An endless itch he cannot scratch; a persistent thirst he cannot quench; a lifelong hunger he cannot fill;
      Only Jesus can birth the God Man Jacob; he is the missing part that only God can instill.

When fallen man is encountered by the Holy Spirit, and His Holy Conviction is applied to his heart;
      God invites that man to receive salvation, if only he would repent and ask Jesus to do His Part.
If that transaction is completed in truth and sincerity, a new third side of that man has been born;
      The Last Adam has redeemed a soul for Heaven; another page from Satan’s book has been torn.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness, and Salvation.
