The Spirit Giveth Life

The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
     A head knowledge of the Bible doth not gender but strife;
Without the Holy Spirit, our understanding is slurred.
     God’s ways are past finding out without the Living Word.

The Living Word is Christ, and the Holy Spirit that indwells the saints;
     He is the key to our understanding, with each picture He paints.
He paints only what God the Father lovingly devises;
     Unless he indwells us, we are left to our own devices.

Satan is too canny, when it comes to the human mind;
     He flatters the human ego so that real truth, man cannot find.
The Holy Spirit knows the mind of the Father;
     He freely shares with God’s elect - those that seek to bother.

If we seek His face, and bother to seek,
     God will give His strength to those that are weak.
His strength is made most perfect in weakness;
     He gives it to those who deny their flesh, and seek after meekness.

The meek shall inherit the earth one day.
     Jesus and His elect bride will bear rule God’s way.
Satan and his force of darkness seem to be strong for now;
     But the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will soon make them bow.
Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness and Salvation.
