Rebellion and Unbelief

Nothing pains the heart of God more than rebellion and unbelief;
      Both are an offence to God the Father; both are, to Him, a source of grief.
Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft; whatsoever is not of faith is sin;
      Rebellion and unbelief, both bubble up from the same bitter spring that issues from within.

Both will poison the heart of man, and damn his soul; together, they are Satan’s delight;
      Working in unison, they embolden that old serpent, and make him think he can win the fight.
Rebellion and unbelief defy the Sovereignty of God; they insult His Holy Omniscient Provision;
      They are the devil’s two main goals to instill into the heart of man, causing him to make bad decisions.

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God – this is the cure for rebellion and unbelief;
      The Living Word came to Paul on the Damascus road, curing the worst of sinners; Paul was chief.
He left off wasting Christ’s Blood-Bought Church, and his rebellion of kicking against the pricks;
      Paul turned and obeyed God’s Word, writing it down, so our wayward souls could be fixed.

Obedience and faith are the two savory fruits of abiding in God’s Word, two Heavenly things;
      They cause the Living Water of the Holy Spirit to overflow our soul, and sweeten the bitter spring.
Living Water carries away rebellion and unbelief, leaving our soul pure, refreshed, and clean;
      It purges our heart, preparing us to be a vessel meet for the Master – our Heavenly Go Between.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness, and Salvation.
