Precious Ears

Precious ears are listening to us each and every day;
      Children and grandchildren watch and listen, as we pursue our own way.
As we navigate through life’s waters, wave by wave,
      Frustration often accompanies us as we daily slave.

Man’s fallen nature is to go it on our own, seeking our old familiar way;
      Never looking to God, or regarding Him Who formed us from the clay.
Precious eyes are watching us, and precious ears are hearing us contemplate;
      Conforming their souls to our actions, using us as their template.

Oh, let us be so careful, as much as we possibly can;
      Let us submit our ways to God to carefully follow His Plan.
Only He can remold our loved ones, who we thoughtlessly damage;
      Let them hear our penitent heart entreat God, as we pay Him homage.

Cause those precious eyes and ears to notice our humble contrition;
      Let them witness our reverence to God, and our total submission.
Never allow them to see in us stubbornness and carnal pride;
      Pray they be swayed by our example of Godliness, whatever betides.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness and Salvation.
