Only God Can

I cannot, of myself, navigate the waters of life – only God can;
      I cannot chart my own course through this world of chaos and strife – only God can.
Living in this world of no moral absolutes, I cannot make sense of it all – only God can;
      Because this world has no solid ground, I cannot keep myself from a fall – only God can.

Satan is too clever for us to resist; we cannot make him flee – only God can.
      He knows our every weakness; we cannot discern how to become free – only God can.
We must realize we are but sheep; we cannot, of ourselves, overcome evil – only God can.
      When we come to the end of ourselves, we see we cannot fight the devil – only God can.

The Bible says we are more than conquerors, through Christ, who strengthens us.
      Through Him, we can do all things; He commands we neither fret nor fuss.
Through faith in Him we can win against sin, and from all fear be set free;
      Faith of a grain of mustard seed will cause any mountain of sin to be cast into the sea.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness, and Salvation.
