My Darling Dove (To my wife)

God saw the need of my soul, one day, in my youth.
      I was like a ship without a rudder, searching for truth,
Lacking identity, and desperately searching for validation.
      God met my need with a pure heart of love and appreciation.

A purer love only in Heaven can be found;
      Through the years, Ann’s love and forbearance knew no bounds.
Though unworthy of such favor, no doubt, was I,
      God, in His Grace, smiled on me in love from on high.

Selfless love, total devotion, Godly character, fervent emotion –
      All inadequately describe the object of my Heavenly promotion.
I was transformed from spiritual bankruptcy to wealth untold
      With God’s gift of Ann; His blessing was manifold.

Deep, and many-faceted, was the diamond of her character,
      Priceless in value, unmatched in beauty, the rarest of treasure.
God, please grant to me the wherewithal to adequately requite her love;
      Show me how to express my appreciation to her, my darling, Heaven-sent dove.

My earthbound dove shall take flight one day, unfolding her wings to sail,
      Bidden by sounding trumpet, or drawn by God, through the veil.
I pray we take flight, wing tip to wing tip, by way of the rapture,
      Flying through Heaven’s Open Window to the waiting Hand of the Master.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness, and Salvation.
