Hiding Places

The human tongue, the smallest of our members, boasts of great things; it is a world of sin;
      It sets on fire the course of nature; by it we bless God and curse man, formed after Him.
Man who was made in God’s own image, the human tongue is quick to attack and to desecrate;
      God’s cherished creation can be bitterly poisoned by this tiny assassin of hate.

This tiny assassin can go on a rampage, wounding and maiming those both far and near;
      It can cause the mightiest of men to seek shelter, and to run for cover out of fear.
The tongue can cripple and make bitter a precious tender heart without warning;
      It can cause normal outgoing people to cower and hide in a shell of insecurity and mourning.

Liberal humanism is a breeding ground for poisonous tongues; it demands its way at any cost;
      Lascivious lust fuels its motor, shameless resentment sears its conscience, irregardless of the loss.
Decency and truth are sacrificed on the altar of carnality; their sharp tongues sever all Godly restraints;
      God’s Word is labeled as hate speech, as liberal humanistic tongues lash out at the saints.

As for the saints, their lives are hidden by Christ in God; the humanistic tongue deems this unfair;
      Their razor tongue goes on the attack, accusing the saints of bigotry, hiding in their shadowy lair.
Although brazen and blasphemous in its boasting, the liberal tongue cannot gain-say God’s Holy Word;
      It can only scream that it feels offended when their Judgment Day verdict is heard.

Every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord;
      On that Great Day the liberal tongue, for its blasphemous bother, will receive its just reward.
Saintly tongues shall shout their praises to their Savior; Heaven’s Courts shall ring;
      Our tongues, hidden by Christ in God, forever freed to praise the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness and Salvation.
