Greed

Desiring those things we do not have, and do not need;
      Yearning, and fretting because we do not have them: this can only be greed.
It is covetousness on steroids - breaking the Tenth Commandment.
      A slap in the face to God’s provision, a sin against our own contentment.

“Godliness with contentment is great gain,” according to Holy Scripture.
      Always complaining and wanting more paints an ugly picture.
A stench in the nostrils of God, always whining and complaining,
      Never stopping to appreciate the many blessings our lives containing.

God help me to see all the benefits You lavishly bestow;
      Help me adequately praise and thank You, here below.
Before I leave this world, help me mend my greedy ways.
      Let me face my faults and gratefully praise You the rest of my days.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalms 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."

The six-pointed star of David is the symbol of the hyssop blossom. I have adopted the star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness and Salvation.
