A City On A Hill

We, as born-again believers, are a city on a hill that cannot be hid;
      Try as we might, the Holy Spirit won’t be kept under a lid.
Our “hold back strap” will most certainly break
      As our regenerate hearts struggle, as our Godly desires doth ache.

The carnal world around us, out of control, rages on
      As they try very hard to suppress us from dusk till dawn.
They cannot help but be appalled and offended
      By God’s manifest presence that the Holy Spirit attended.

He reproves the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment;
      As Satan rages, driving them to oppose us, with radical begrudgment.
All those who live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution;
      But if we obey the Lord, and stay the course, it will be to our absolution.

As the book of the Revelation concludes, we win in the end;
      It only appears in the present that the winner is sin.
Our Lord will consume them in the end by the brightness of His returning;
      Our enraptured hearts will then rejoice with the fulfillment of our yearning.

Composed by Jim Newnam
Psalm 51:7
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

The six-pointed Star of David is the symbol of the hyssop Blossom. I have adopted the Star of David as an emblem of God’s Goodness and Salvation.
