Psalm 40:13 Be pleased, O Lord, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me.

Never yield to weariness of the spirit. Our physical bodies may become tired, and we have to put aside the activities of the world to rest, sleep, renew our strength, but our spirits rest in the eternal God and are sustained by Him.
At times, the world's cares and distractions will intrude and the spirit will become weak. When the focus of our attention wavers from God, we are cut off from the source of our strength.

At times like this, carry on and soon the spirit will become strong again. Keep on keeping on. Do the duty we know to do, occupy ourselves with giving honor to God, even when the feeling or the sense of His presence is not felt. He does not change; it is only we who step back, or lose our way in a fog.

God's spirit is always with you, to replenish and renew. His faithfulness, His constancy, His unchanging love and grace is always present to meet with us and empower us.

No one ever sincerely sought God's help in vain. His eyes are always upon us, His thoughts are always toward us. He sees our hearts and knows our desires. Those who acknowledge Him in all their ways will have their needs met.

Physical weariness and exhaustion make a time of rest and communion with God more necessary. When the body is unable to continue, give it rest. When the spirit is distracted and weary, we need to touch the heart of God.

When you are overcome by temporary conditions that you cannot control, keep quiet and wait for the power of the spirit to flow back. Storms come, but they eventually end. The night of sorrow comes, but sadness ends and joy comes in the morning. Fiery trials and overwhelming floods come, but they are not lifestyles. When the gold is refined, it comes out of the furnace, and is used by the Master.

Do not speak or act in the midst of emotional upheaval, but wait until the tempest is past. Quiet your soul, rest in the Lord, and having done all, stand fast in the spirit and watch the Lord calm the storm, fight the battle, and defeat the enemy.

Psalm 40:6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but my ears You have pierced.

As the Hebrew slaves had the option at the end of the years of their servitude to either go free, or to remain with the master they have grown to love and trust, they would show their choice of life-long submission to their lord by having their ears pierced by an awl, thereby giving up their freedom to act on their own, and demonstrating their dependence and obedience to the one they choose to belong to.
Father God, we walk with You along the path You have chosen for us. We do not understand all that comes our way, but we trust You to see us through to the end which gives us Your victory and give You our praise and thanks.
