Once gold has been through the fire to remove “baser” metals, and has been through the hands of the goldsmith, whose creative skills adds beauty to the value, then it is put into use by the one who has paid the asking price for it.

Gold is non-reactive, or “noble” in nature, yet very malleable. In the spirit, this shows us the Servant-King nature of Jesus Christ, who is fully man and fully God, setting the example for us to follow.

Philippians 2
v.5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
v.6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage;
v.7 rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

There are many ways in which gold is used in the natural. When it is pure, it is not subject to corrosion such as rust or other forms of oxidation. This makes it ideal for use in electronic connections for computers and smart phones, where two separate components meet to pass along data for communication or power for operation. When two unlike metals touch, such as iron and copper, one will be corroded by the other, but when gold contacts gold, there is no conflict.

In spiritual terms, since gold represents the nature of God which we desire to be what comes out from us, is seen by others, and covers our baser nature, we can see that gold touching gold is the way that the parts of the Body of Christ can grow together, share the blessings of God, the truths of the Word, and power of the Spirit without “data loss” or misinterpretation, and without “voltage drops” or power loss. This allows each member of the body to be valued equally rather than developing an hierarchy of “greater” or “lesser” members that becomes corrosive to the point of pulling the Body apart, stopping the flow of life.

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate & humble.

Ephesians 4
v.1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
v.2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
v.3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
v.4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;
v.5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
v.6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

In the area of finance, gold carries great value because it is not as common as other metals and it does not rust away as other metals do. However, because it can be obtained, it can be accumulated, it can confer power, yet it can be stolen. People become obsessed with having it, gaining it, and keeping it, willing to lose everything else they have just to get more of the yellow metal.

In eternity, there is ample supply from God for all, for He gives abundantly to all who turn to Him, and He does not change, but is eternally the same. However, it does cost all we have, all we are, and all our hopes for controlling our own future or following our own understanding of our dreams. Is there any reason to hesitate to pay those prices, though? We will never be our own masters or control our own destinies – that is only a tempting lie fabricated by the father of liars. We can never gain enough knowledge to safely make our own decisions and trust them to be right, so our best choice is to give to God what He asks for, the things we cannot control or keep, and receive from Him that which no one can steal, and which will never suffer corruption or change.

Mark 10
v.17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
v.18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.
v.19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’ ”
v.20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
v.21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
v.22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
v.23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

In medicine, on-going research is learning how to use gold nano-particles to fight cancer and to give quick, accurate diagnosis of what disease is causing the symptoms [health and discernment]. In government and politics, they follow the Golden Rule: “He who has the gold, makes the rules” [power and authority]. In fashion and style, appearance is everything, and nothing is more imitated than gold, though nothing is more scarce [truth and integrity].

In art, gold has endurance. When archaeologists examine burial sites thousands of years old, there will be trace evidences remaining in the grave of fashioned wood, leather, copper, iron, silver, but a gold artifact will be as solid and unchanged as the day it was laid there. Gold also is reusable. A piece of gold may be shaped into coins, then fashioned into a bracelet, then used for industry, all by changing the shape or appearance, but never affecting its nature.

God, the Father, reveals Himself to man over the course of history in different ways, demonstrating different facets of His nature, but all working toward His eternal purpose, unchanging, yet malleable enough to meet the need of the moment.

Hebrews 1
v.1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
v.2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
v.3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Father God, thank You for allowing us to partake of Your divine nature and be changed into the image of Your beloved Son, that we may show Him brighter and clearer each day before the world. We lay down our lives and all that we hold valuable, understanding they are filthy rags, and devote ourselves to Your great commission. We worship You, accepting Your will with child-like joy, and bend our energy and effort into laying aside the weights that would hinder us from loving You more deeply. Have Your will, Lord, for Your Word is established in eternity and will stand for all ages!
