Lather, Rinse, Repeat

We are the people of God, a holy nation, a peculiar people, called forth for His purposes, designated vessels to carry His glory, trusted to not be tempted to claim it for our own for we have been tried, tested, trained, and proven in the little things to be faithful and obedient.
These are the daily choices, the routine run-of-the-mill events, the things we never give a second thought to; this is where God's Spirit works in our lives, over and over to plant our feet firmly, to help us stand securely, to establish our balance against the little aggravations and grievances that buffet us, but are not in danger of knocking us over.

Have you noticed that there are some things that just keep happening, over and over and over? The same frustrating thing that others do, repeatedly occurring in a day's time, week after week? God's love is so great, He doesn't get tired or impatient as He runs us through the practice test again and again, first from this direction, then from that direction, testing and trying us to help us see what is in our hearts. And isn't it a joyous occasion when we gain the vision to see in that blind spot just what we have struggled with, and are able to yield that area or topic or weakness to Him, and see Him convert what used to be a liability into an asset, that weakness into a strength, that drawback into God's glory that we can carry in earthen vessels so that the honor and majesty will accrue to our loving and worthy God and Master, Lord of the universe?

Zechariah 4:10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand." (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.)
Ever-patient Father God, thank You that in the midst of all that goes on, as You go about the business of Your house, that You do not grow impatient with the training and the teaching of Your little children. We tumble around Your feet, bicker with each other, lose track of what You are saying to us, but You never grow tired and never give up. You speak as strongly as needed, but never too strongly and only to our need, never from Your impatience. You know when the lessons pile up and You comfort us and draw us aside for time with You when we need it. Thank You for giving us Your joy as we have to give up our ragged blankets and see our favorite toys be left behind at times, but we trust You and in faith look forward to the treasures You have for us as we walk in obedience to the Word and to the Spirit. We love You, Father, because You first loved us.
