Isn't Scripture wonderful? After reading the section in Esther describing Haman's attempt to destroy Mordecai and all the Jews under King Xerxes, a section in Psalms 36 so perfectly describes his behavior and attitude. v.1...There is no fear of God before his eyes. v.2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. v.3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good. v.4 Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong v.11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. v.12 See how the evildoers lie fallen -- thrown down, not able to rise. This is a picture of those people who repeatedly choose to hold on to the worldly influences with which God's enemy entices us all. However as we choose by daily, repeatedly, yielding to God's Spirit to overcome those "cities in the land," the parts of our nature that are responsive to those influences, those temptations tend to fade and lose their power to influence us. But those people who will not let go, who embrace those appetites for power and things, who linger near the enemy, will experience the same punishment to which God subjects His enemy, though that punishment was not meant for man -- only for the fallen angels who rebelled against God. Proverbs 21:22 A wise man attacks the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust. God gave wisdom to Mordecai and favor to Esther, as she obeyed Mordecai and sought God's grace through fasting and prayer. As we walk in the Spirit, making daily deposits into our spiritual account with God, conversing with God, feeling what is on His heart, hearing His words, not looking for results or rewards, just loving God and being loved back, we find that when we need it, the power, the anointing, the wisdom is available to break the power of the enemy and to bring deliverance to the people who recognize their need. The Jewish people throughout the kingdom of Xerxes knew it was life or death. When the king's edict went out giving the Jews the right to defend themselves, they did not hesitate but attacked and destroyed the enemy; they already knew who the enemy was. When God directs our spiritual battle and points out the spiritual enemy, we are to take the weapons He gives us and offer no quarter, show no mercy. This is how the people of God receive deliverance and are set free into God's love. The rest of Psalms 36 focuses on the love of God that brings us redemption: v.5 Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies. v.6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like the great deep. O Lord, You preserve both man and beast. v.7 How priceless is Your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. v.8 They feast on the abundance of Your house; You give them drink from Your river of delights. v.9 For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. v.10 Continue Your love to those who know You, Your righteousness to the upright in heart. God in the highest, accept our worship as we choose to be conscious of Your divine majesty. As we pause in our day to worship by acknowledging You, confessing You to be worthy of praise and opting to be among those who give voice to that praise, we receive the divine power, the divine love, the divine healing that comes to us, for it is in the praise of Your people that You choose to dwell. 3H19V12O
