What mountains do you have in your life? Are they familiar territory, ones that you have seen from all sides as you go round and round again? Or is there an unfamiliar mountain you are facing, one for which you do not have a map or a charted path laid out to follow? Is there a single isolated chunk of rock on a flat plain and it just *had* to be right in the middle of the way you need to go? Or are you looking at a range of cloud-piercing snow-covered rugged peaks that stretch from horizon to horizon with no obvious passes below the snow line?

Zechariah 4:10 "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand." (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.)
Despise not the day of small beginnings. God is big enough to work with small things. The power of life in a small seed, able to break up hard dirt and move rocks, is no different from the power of life in a word spoken into a person's heart and mind, changing the intent and purpose of all they do, giving the power to break old habits and patterns, and form new ones. Mark 10:14 When Jesus saw this, he became irritated. He told them, "Don't stop the children from coming to me. Children like these are part of the kingdom of God.
God loves the children. Jesus insisted that the children be allowed to come to Him. Even our world's societies recognize that children are the hope for the future. Psalm 101:2 ...I will walk in my house with blameless heart.
Is there anything more difficult than living the spiritual life we each attain to in the confines of our own home? I find no place in which the effort to live Christ-like ends up being greater than among those who know me best. It is there that I have to depend the greatest on God's grace to express what I see when I look into the Word of God. |
