A Shift in Direction

The goal of life is not happiness, and the purpose of life is not the search for happiness. Happiness is the result of right living and right living involves doing what is right in service to others
Daily we take in what we surround ourselves with, and by nature as well as habit, we share it with those around us.

We all know people who are enjoyable to be around and seem to effortlessly make those near them feel better, encouraged, uplifted.

If we do not find ourselves having a similar effect on those around us, we may need to give a careful look at what we spend our time thinking about, listening to, and watching.

A small shift in direction, a simple desire in our heart to be nearer to God, from Whom comes every good and perfect gift, is always honored by the Spirit of God.

There is no better example than Jesus, the Son of God, who followed a life of service, and was obedient to His Father, even to the death on the cross. Through giving Himself for us, His service brought forgiveness of sins to all who know Him and happiness, peace, and joy to those who follow Him.

Hebrews 12:2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.

Are you looking for a way out from under the shadow that seems to be over your days? Look into what the Bible says and you will find the answer to your greatest problem. Follow that answer and you will find that you have a way to be of service to others who face the same problem. Before you realize it, you will find that happiness is present in your life without having to search for it.
Loving God, You know where each of us are living, and You have the answer for what we struggle with. Thank You that we do not have to work our way to where we can find You, but instead we simply have to want You. You meet us where we are, work with us as we are, and deal with us as You see we can be. When those dull, gray days come, Lord, we keep trusting Your promise to be with us, and we know You will bring Your light into our life with the joy of Your presence and the peace of Your comfort. Thank You for Your love which reaches all the way to our hearts
